Reflection

The readings today invites us to see and experience a profound connection between leaving the familiar and encountering the divine. In Genesis, we see Abram is asked to leave his homeland without knowing his destination. His "yes" is an act of radical trust, stepping into the unknown solely because God called him.

In the Gospel, the disciples witness the Transfiguration. Overwhelmed by glory, they hear the Father’s command:

"Listen to him."

This experience prepares them for the difficult journey to Jerusalem. St. Paul reminds us that this calling is not based on our works, but on God’s grace and purpose.

My dear brothers and Sisters in Christ, Lent is our journey into the unknown. We are invited to leave behind our sins and securities, just as Abram left his country. Like the disciples on the mountain, we must listen more to Jesus, even when his path leads to the Cross. Like Pope Leo XIV invites us to Cease from “Harsh words and rash judgment" we ought to leave our comfort doings. We need not fear, for we do not travel alone.

As the Psalmist sings,

"Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you."

This Lent, may we have the courage to leave our comfort zones and trust fully in God’s plan.

AMEN!
